                                                       Infographic Analysis

            Using Venngage I was able to create an infographic on how electric cars better the environment. This infographic was intended to reach the audience of new car owners, existing gasoline car owners and government officials that want to solve one of the biggest reasons for global warming. In our generation today cars are a huge reason for global warming, infact 

highway vehicles release about 1.6 billion tons of greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere each year mostly in the form of carbon dioxide contributing to global climate change in our society. To add, 25% of our atmosphere is polluted from gasoline vehicles. As our society grows and our technology grows, you would think that there are more electric vehicles being produced and manufactured. Well this is not the case because of how rare the materials are for an electric car to be built. Electric cars are so special, due to their great durable batteries, however this type of battery is made from lithium. Lithium prices have risen to an astonishing 438% above last year’s price, however money isn’t the problem, it’s the manufacturing of it. Extracting lithium is complicated, involving either mining the ore and then separating the metal or pumping underground water deposits to the surface and then extracting the metal from pools is one of the most difficult processes ever. This is also another reason why electric cars are so expensive, because there aren’t as many electric cars as we think. Even though the production of electric cars have slowed, more and more companies are starting to produce more electric cars. Such as Mercedes Benz, Tesla, Toyota and kia. 

This infographic was structured this way to first show the pros and cons of an electric car. As you continue to go through the infographic it explains the benefits of an electric car compared to gasoline vehicles. Not to mention it provides information about both environmental and health benefits of electric cars. Electric cars do have many health advantages when it comes to their vehicles. For instance, electric vehicles have a lower center of gravity, which makes them less likely to roll over in a car crash. To add, they have a lower risk of major fires or explosions. Not to mention the body construction and durability make them safer in vehicle collisions. When making this infographic I had to choose colors that catch the eye and make somebody want to read, this is why the infographic is mixed with different bright colors and icons. Usually people would walk past an infographic with no color or plane background, this is the reason why the background of my infographic has little small images that match the color of each topic. However, with this type of infographic style I was limited to only putting in a decent amount of information. This made it quite difficult to put together my evidence, I had to pick and choose what kind of evidence I wanted to put together in order to make this infographic informative. 

At the end of the infographic the last point of the states “ The Big Picture”, this is basically summing up the infographic into one point. The big picture of electric cars is that it would address most of our problems when it comes to climate change and transportation. Having the whole world manufacture more electric cars will eventually replace fossil fuels. By 2030 the number of electric vehicles will at least  hit 145 million, electrification of the transport sector can also bring benefits in terms of increased energy efficiency and reduced local pollution.

To Conclude, the purpose of my infographic is to inform and help people/government officials understand the benefits of electric cars, through the use of bright colors and icons that helps the reader understand the infographic clearly.
